Supported charities
For our first big event, Coast to Coast 2009 we chose to raise money for The Mercury Phoenix Trust which is a charity designed to raise money and awareness to help support the fight against the HIV/AIDS epidemic worldwide. The reason we chose this charity is because we know that we can actually make a difference to the fight, the most dangerous thing about the HIV/AIDS epidemic is the amount of ignorance that still exists today, some people still believe HIV/AIDS is a virus that is only contracted by homosexuals, when in fact 2.1 million children are living with the AIDS today and in 2007 260,000 children died of the virus. The development of retro-virul drugs is on going and any money raised will contribute to that development, the fight is not a hopeless one, every penny makes a difference, this disease can be stopped if only awareness is raised, which is exactly what we intend to do.
We plan to continue on organising, supporting and donating for the forseeable future and many worthwhile causes will benefit.
