Phoenix Fire Foundation

The Phoenix Fire Foundation is an organisation designed and set up by four students, to raise money and awareness for selected charities working both in the United Kingdom and abroad. The first challenge we embarked on is a Coast to Coast walk from Holyhead to Great Yarmouth commencing in July 2009 in aid of The Mercury Phoenix Trust, a charity set up to help the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS worldwide.

Between early 2008 and July 2009 we organised smaller fundraisers to contribute to the money we hoped to raise through the Coast to Coast walk. The Coast to Coast Walk was a great success. Over a five we period we walked four hundred miles, the four of us on our own, without a support vehicle or any experience to speak of. We raised over £3000 for the Mercury Phoenix Trust who were good enough to endorse us.

We believe every person can make a difference, however small or seemingly insignificant that may be. We aren’t doing this because we think we should, we are simply doing it because we can.  We may never have another time in our lives when such opportunities are open to us, we intend to make the most of it.
